We had such a great weekend! We got up early on Saturday, drove to Charlotte, and met Dave's parents at the Discovery Place museum. We went through the aquarium exhibit and Lucy was able to see Dory, Nemo, Marlin, and Jacques (all fish from the movie Finding Nemo) in one tank! She kept looking for Peach (another character). She would talk about all the characters and say, "no Peachy dough" (though). On the second floor they had all sorts of interactive exhibits. Most of them were too old for the kids, but there were some that they loved. There was a giant model of an eye that we could walk through, a shadow exhibit (Lucy especially likes shadows these days because Tigger loves his shadow), dinosaurs, and rat basketball. It's true. We were cheering for Bleu. It's a little bit cruel (okay, a lot a bit), but oh so much fun! These two rats got the "ball" (the roller from inside a deodo
rant stick), made a basket with it and then got food. It was more like sharing, not too much defense. Anyway, the museum had bleachers and handed out pom-pons. Lucy loved it! Gus didn't like the noise so much. We went back downstairs and there was a big room with different centers for kids to play with toys. There was even a little section for kids under 3. Gus stayed in there. He was able to crawl around on the mats and ride the little toys. Lucy roamed around with Papa. She was so excited, she didn't know what to play with next.On Sunday we went to Stowe's Botanical Gardens. We got a bracelet for the first museum on Saturday and Lucy didn't want to take it off, nor did she want me to take mine off.
On Sunday morning we were able to clip off our bracelets because we told her we were going to a plant museum and we might get another bracelet. Lucky for us, the Botanical Gardens handed out bracelets! Lucy was thrilled. There was a fall festival going on and it was totally oriented for kids. Lucy painted a pumpkin, made a necklace and did a few other crafts. There were a lot of fountains, which Lucy loved! She was able to run under one with Grandma and Daddy.We left Gastonia right after lunch so the kids could take naps on the way home. Gus waved goodbye to Grandma, so sweet.
The kids slept for the first two hours of the ride home (it's a three hour trip). When Gus woke up he started grunting really loud, like he had to go poopies. Lucy started clapping and yelled "Good boy, Gus! Good poopies, Gus!" It's so funny what's important to kids!
