We had a great, busy, fun weekend! On Friday I took the kids to the museum. Lucy insisted on walking with "Sustuh" (aka Buster) her little Lucy leash. She refuses to sit in the stroller, which is fine as long as she's on her leash. At the museum there is a huge outdoor part, which is more like a zoo than a museum. The pig and the duck are in the same pen. The pig is always sleeping and the duck is always awake and tries to get the pig to wake up. Lucy kept wondering if the pig would be sleeping this time. She asked all week "Pig sweeping Mommy?" When we got to the museum we had to walk through the dinosaur exhibit first, Lucy's choice (we've always walked through the dinosaur exhibit, it's habit at this point). We got to see the goats, donkey, sheep and bunnies. Wouldn't you know it, the pig was sleeping again! Lucy thought it was so funny. The turkey and chickens were happy as could be. The cow and one goat live together. The cow a very organic smell. Lucy kept saying "cow mao (smell) bat (bad)!" It's funny how she's starting to recognize smells and where they come from. We went to see the bears right after the farm animals, foregoing the butterfly house. Only one of the four bears was out. He put on quite a show. He stood on top of the dead tree and took a bath. On the way back inside we went to the butterfly house and said goodbye to all the farm animals. We saw the alligators, owl, snakes, and birds inside. Both of the kids had so much fun.
On Friday night we decided to go to dinner at Biaggi's. The kids were perfect! Gus sat in a high chair at a restaurant for the first time. Lucy colored on the paper at the table. She actually wanted to stay in the restaurant, usually she cannot wait to leave! She kept saying "tay heuh" (stay here).
Saturday morning Lucy and I went to Jackson's birthday party. Lucy had a blast! Then we drove out to Elon to meet Dave for a family MBA tailgate party. Lucy was so excited to see Daddy's school "Eewon." Gus cried the entire way out there and the entire way back. He rarely cries. He just didn't want to be in his car seat. As soon as we took him out he was laughing again. Lucy didn't fuss at all when he cried, it was like she understood.
On Sunday Mama and Papa McKay, Scot and Emily and Robb came over for the day. Lucy and Gus got to meet Aunt Emily. And Gus got to see Uncle Scot for the first time, too. We had a wonderful time with them! Lucy was so sad when everyone left. She kept asking Mama and Papa if they would stay. So sweet.
I went to the Dr. today for a follow-up appointment. I told him I was in more pain than before I had the hernia surgery. He said that's normal, especially with all the complications. He also said that my hernia did not come back (which was a concern), and it could take 4-6 months for me to be completely healed. I guess that's good, I just have to wait this whole thing out. Hopefully, I'll be to run and workout again soon.
This should be a slow week. Lucy has pre-school on Tuesday and Thursday. Hannah and Cindy will come over for our Wednesday playdate. Dave also has school Tuesday and Thursday this week.
