Gus' Birthday Party

What a great weekend! Travis came down late Friday night to be here for Gus' party. It was a short, but sweet visit. On Sunday afternoon we had Gus' birthday party at the new house. The kids loved it, there were lots of toys, but no furniture, so there was plenty of room to play. We had a baseball-themed party. We had two cakes, Lemon Star and a Carrot Cake, from Blue Moon Bakery. It was a quick party from 3-4, just long enough to sing Happy Birthday and eat cake.

We gave Gus a piece of the Carrot Cake (and I heard he was also given some Lemon Star, too) and he devoured it. He was literally sucking the frosting off his hands. I thought he would make a huge mess, but it really wasn't that bad. He didn't get any frosting in his hair. Impressive skills for an almost one-year-old.

When he opened his music table he started dancing almost immediately. He got some maracas and a percussion set. He couldn't be happier. That boy loves music!

At one point Lucy and her friends had put costumes on Lucy was wearing Gus' shark costume. She ran up to Gus and yelled "Waaahhhh" (her version of "Rooooaaaarrr"). He put his arms up and started walking after her yelling "Waaaahhhh!" She jumped up on the chair, shocked that Gus tried to scare her back. Gus can definitely hold his own!

Papa McKay writes the kids poems and he read Gus his birthday poem. So sweet. Gus seemed to enjoy it.

Birthdays are such great celebrations. Good company, good food, good times.
