Twice Upon a Christmas

Lucy was so excited when she got up! Dave ran downstairs and came back up to tell Lucy that Santa had come. She raced downstairs and saw that the milk and cookies were gone. Then she ran around the couch and gasped, literally gasped, at all the presents! It took us about an hour to open them all. She was thrilled. All four of us got just what we wanted and then plenty more!

We were able to get a ton done during the day. We have to get the house ready to go on the market, so that means cleaning out closets, drawers, everything! It really was amazing how much we got done. We cooked a big turkey dinner and then mom, Jim, and Grandma came over for dinner around 4:30. We had a wonderful time.

Gus was feeling a bit under the weather , we thought it was just his teeth. He's still toothless, but we can see the whites of two teeth. I had given him Motrin on Monday night and all day on Tuesday for his fever. Lucy always had a fever when she got her teeth, so we thought the same was happening with Gus. After everyone left, we checked his temperature and it was a whopping 102.8, 45 minutes after he had the Motrin. Neither of our kids have ever had a temperature that high. We called the on-call Dr. and waited. 15 minutes later we checked his temperature again and it was 103.6, in his armpit, which means it was probably about a degree higher. We still hadn't heard back from the pediatrician, so we decided to take him to the ER. Dave took Lucy to my parents and then met me and Gus at the hospital. The triage nurse saw us right away and gave him some Tylenol and his temperature was down to 102.9. We got a room and saw the Dr. about two hours later. Who knew the ERs in Bloomington would look so good? They made us put Gus in a little blue hospital gown. So sweet and so pathetic! He has an ear infection and pink eye. We got some medicine for him. Poor boy.

Today we took down the tree and took pictures of the house. There's hope and light at the end of the tunnel! Gus is feeling a bit better today, but he's still not back to normal.
