We had a very laid back, fun weekend! It was one of those weekends that seemed to go on forever. I love that. On Saturday we all slept in to about 8:30, which is great with two little kids. We pulled down all of our Christmas decorations and put the tree up. I really love Christmas. It always seems like we put the tree up so early, but we're glad by the time Thanksgiving is here. November is usually a busy month for us. Lucy loves the Christmas tree! I think Gus is afraid of it. He doesn't go near it, which is fine by me. I took Lucy to the grocery store with me on Saturday afternoon. It was so much fun hanging out with just Lucy! She is soooo sweet. As we went through the aisles she pointed out what she wanted. She loves pickles and Cheez-its these days. She'll eat them both with anything. It's gross, but it makes her really happy. On Sunday we got up and we were all ready to go by 8:15, thanks to the time change! We went to Panera for breakfast and then to the early service at church. The two-year old classroom fills up early, so we got there at 9:15 (church doesn't start until 9:30). We came home and ate lunch and then loaded everyone back in the van to go to Fearrington to look at the fluffy cows. Then we went to the museum. Gus really got into the museum this time. The donkey got really close to Gus and he started to cry. The turkey flapped it's wings and Gus thought it was hilarious. He loved the cow and chickens, too. For those of you who are keeping track, the pig was asleep. Lucy was quacking at the duck again to wake up the pig. It didn't work. All four of the bears were out so we could see them play. Gus roared like a bear. He wouldn't stop. Gus can wave, roar like a bear, say "hi," and say "Dada." He gets the most reaction out of the bear, so he does it a lot. You can't blame him, I'd do the same thing. We came home and the kids napped. That extra hour felt like 12!
Lucy didn't have school this morning. Her school is a polling place, so there was too much people traffic for the pre-school kids to be there, too. There were parent-teacher conferences for the three and four year old classes. Crazy, huh? This whole pre-school thing is pretty serious!
Lucy has been really into taking turns lately. She made up a new "one minute" rule. If Gus (or anyone else, for that matter) is playing with something she wants, she gives them one minute until it's her turn to play with it. She'll put up one finger and say "Sucy's tuhn (turn), one minute. Sucy pway (play) wi (with) it ONE minute." When her version of a minute is up she'll go get it and say "Minute aww (all) done. Sucy's tuhn." I think it's a fine rule, so I've been going along with it. We were watching the weather on TV the other morning and she saw the traffic report with all the cars lined up and said, "Caws (Cars) in wine (line), taking tuhns (turns)."
The rest of the week is going to be busy. The kids are both at such fun ages, every day really is such an adventure. I love, love, love it!
