The big blue house

Well we made it back to the big blue house in one piece. The drive wasn't too bad with the kids. Lucy didn't get sick on the way back, which was nice. Right about five hours into the trip they both lost it for about 15 minutes and then it passed. Gus was fussy, we think it's probably because he still is faces the back of the van and he feels out of the loop. He really hates being alone. The kids were so excited to be home. The both played with their toys for about an hour before they went to bed.

On Monday morning the firemen who do contract work on the side came to work on our house. They pressure-washed the deck, replaced some boards, and took off our skylight in the master bathroom. They thought it was a standard size skylight, but it's not. So we have plastic covering the hole now. It's a good thing that it's still relatively warm here. The skylight was definitely on it's last leg, so the plastic might actually be more effective in keeping the cold out. The deck gets stained today and our back doors finally get painted! Hopefully our skylight came in and they can install that, too. It's really nice having someone else do the work.

Tonight we're going to hear Rob Bell speak in Raleigh. Can't wait! Tomorrow we're going to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Angus Barn with mom and Jim. The food is amazing! I've been waiting all year for this. There is no stress attached to Thanksgiving dinner. We go, we eat, we leave. No dishes. No cooking. It's wonderful. Last year I did miss the leftovers, though. Dave and I are going to Pinehurst Friday and Saturday for our five year anniversary. So really, it's like two weeks of vacation for us. I'm really glad we put the Christmas decorations up a few weeks ago!
