Giddyupedness

Or lack thereof...Life around our house has been pretty slow lately. I'm still trying to recover from all the complications from the surgery. I still can't pick up the kids and need to take it easy. My parents have been here everyday watching the kids. It's been really hard for everyone. The hardest part is that there is no clear end in sight. Lucy and Gus always have an extra person to play with.

We've been able to enjoy the kids even more, just because we're home and together so much more. Lucy got a little stick unicorn that makes sounds for her birthday. She was terrified of it until last week. We would turn it on and she would run away. She named her Bullseye, like the horse from Toy Story 2. When she finally realized Bullseye wouldn't hurt her, she fell in love. She went in circles from the kitchen, to the dining room, to the hallway and back to the kitchen for about an hour!

Last Wednesday Papa spotted the turtle. About six weeks ago we had a turtle in our front yard crossing the sidewalk. I took Lucy out to the front porch to look at him. It was raining, so we didn't stay out too long. She would ask for the turtle every few days and we would tell her that he was napping. So when Papa spotted the turtle it was a big to do. Cindy and Hannah were here playing during the turtle spotting, so we all went outside trying to find the turtle. Papa picked him up and moved him to the front of the house (I know we're not supposed to reroute turtles, but it was for a good cause). Lucy touched him a few times and then would jump back saying "cared" (scared). Mr. Turtle was fabulous! He put on a great show! He would move his head, arms, legs and tail in and out of the shell. Lucy was so enamored with the turtle. When Dave came home she wanted to go look for the turtle. They took a five minute tour around the house, but didn't find Mr. Turtle. The whole time Lucy was shouting "Misto Toetoe whey aw woo?" We still haven't found him.

Gus is getting up on all fours and rocking. He'll be moving much faster once he figures out how to really crawl. He has a deep fascination with remotes, boys will be boys. I guess it starts at a young age. He's really starting to like cereal and some baby food. When we eat, he wants to eat, too.

Last night we were praying before we put Lucy to bed. The four of us sit in a circle on our bed and hold hands. Lucy usually starts out holding Gus' hand, but he tries to eat her hand and she always says "ickies poos Gus!" She ends up holding his foot. Dave prays and Lucy repeats what he says. He asked for God to help mommy get better. When Lucy heard "help" she yelled "oh Toodles!" On Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when Mickey needs help he calls for Toodles and Toodles comes bringing him all the tools he needs to fix the situation. I guess she thought it would work on me too! So funny!
