Gus is 2!

I can't believe our little guy is 2! We went back and forth about what to do for his birthday. Lucy didn't have a big party for her 2nd birthday, so we didn't want to have a big shindig for Gus. We knew Dave's parents were going out of town around his birthday and the Saturday after his birthday was Valentine's Day. So last Sunday afternoon we decided we'd have cake and ice cream (very miniature party) at 6:30 on Thursday night.

Lucy got up so excited Thursday morning because it was Gus' birthday. We went downstairs and she helped me put up the baseball decorations from last year and set out all the presents on the table. When Gus finally got up Dave, Lucy, and I went in Gus' room singing Happy Birthday. We went downstairs and he saw all the decorations and presents. He could hardly believe his eyes! It was like Christmas just for him. We got him a little Orioles outfit and hat. When he opened the jersey, he literally "oooohed" and said "Baybaw shut!" (baseball shirt). We have no idea how he knows what baseball jerseys are, but clearly, he does. He wore the jersey and the hat all day. He even slept with his hat on.

We got take-out Chinese for dinner. Gus loves sweet and sour chicken. Then my parents and Ms. Darlene came over for cake and ice cream. We got Gus a baseball cake, which he loved. It was chocolate with chocolate mousse on the inside. The kid loves chocolate. He ate almost his entire four-layer piece! The party lasted maybe an hour. It was just the right amount of party and presents for a two year old.
