55th Birthday Party

We're all fighting colds, still. We're mostly recovered, though.

On Tuesday afternoon Lucy and I were downstairs and Gus was upstairs playing, quietly. Sometimes he sits at the table in Lucy's room and colors by himself. Most of the time, if all the other doors are closed, he doesn't get into any trouble. I heard his little feet run around upstairs, so I ran up to check on him and he was happily sitting at the table coloring. A few hours later I was getting his jammies out and noticed crayon "pictures" on all the walls and doors in the hall and Lucy's room about the same height as Gus. Thank goodness we have scrubbable paint and washable markers. It came right off with a baby wipe!

Last Tuesday Lucy came home from our Bible Study (she went with Dave, I stayed home with Gus) and said she's going to marry Brayden when she's 55. We have no idea where the fascination with the age of 55 comes from.

Gus' cold was getting worse on Wednesday, so I took him to the Dr. He's supposed to have surgery tomorrow for his clogged tear duct, so I wanted to know if we should cancel the surgery. The Dr. said it was just a cold and not in his lungs, so the surgery should be okay. I talked to the surgeon's office on Friday and they said the same thing. His cold is getting better, so hopefully all goes well tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, the Dr. said we should keep Gus as quarantined as possible until surgery.

We were supposed to go to Emily's birthday party on Saturday. Dave was going to go with Lucy and at the last minute we decided to keep her home. We were scared of her picking up new germs and bringing them home to Gus. Lucy was devastated and wanted to go to the party so badly. We told her that we would have our own party after her nap. We went to Dairy Queen for dinner to celebrate the pretend birthday. Lucy wanted to celebrate our 55th birthday. She said we were all pretending to be 55. So we did. We even sang Happy Birthday to ourselves in Dairy Queen.

Lucy's staying the night at my parent's house tonight. Gus has surgery bright and early in the morning.
