We came home and I gave the kids a bath and they had lunch. Gus took a nap for 30 minutes and then we went to the Dr. for their check-ups (Gus' 18 month, Lucy's 3 year). I've never had them both looked at in the same appointment slot before. It went surprisingly well. Lucy went with one nurse to get her eyes, ears, and weight checked. She went all by herself, while I got Gus weighed and measured. Lucy really wanted a shot. Weird. She said she wanted a shot to show Gus how brave he should be (literally she's been asking for a shot at the Dr's for a week!). The Dr. said he just got some flu shots in without any preservatives that he could give her. She was thrilled! Very weird. Lucy wanted her shot first, to show Gus how you don't have to cry. She climbed up on the table and laid down. Then she got a bit nervous. The nurse gave her the shot and she didn't cry, not even a yelp! Gus got his two shots, took the long, deep breath before the cry and screamed bloody murder for about 15 seconds and then he was fine. Gus is 32 and 1/2 inches tall (50%), his head crown is 50% as well, and he weighs 22lbs 12oz (10%). At least he's on the charts now, not in the less than fifth percentile category anymore! Lucy weighed a whopping 31 lbs (50%) and she's 37 and 1/4 tall (50%). Organic whole milk is working it's magic in our children! The Dr. finally thinks they are both growing appropriately!
Tomorrow is Lucy's first day of pre-school and then she has her first ever dance class in the afternoon. Gus has his first real play date tomorrow with Emily (she's a few months older than him), Sara (Emily's mom) and I have been trying to get together for months. On Thursday Lucy has swim lessons and on Friday she has school. Me and Gus have a play date with Hannah and Cindy on Friday morning. The fall schedule is in full-swing! It's actually kind of nice to get back into a routine.
