My goodness have we had a case of the sickies around here. Well, multiple cases, actually. We went to church as a family the first week in January and Judson got sick the following Wednesday with a bad cold. We have not been back to church as a whole family since. Someone has been sick every week since! It works out that we live five minutes from church and that there are three services, so Dave can go to one (or two, if he's helping with the kids), and I can go to one, too.
The thing that really got us was the flu/fever/cough bug. Lucy got the high fever and cough. The fever lasted four days, but the cough lasted almost two weeks. Gus didn't get it until Lucy's fifth day. Dave got it a week after Lucy first got it. Judson got it a week and a half after Lucy, and I got it bad two weeks after she did. It lingered. I was out. My two worst days were over the weekend, which worked out well, so Dave could help with the kids.
We were almost all better last weekend. We went out for brunch the day after Gus' birthday and I felt his head and he had a fever, again. Judson had a nasty runny nose, too. On Monday morning I took the boys to the doctor. After the nurse left the room, Gus looked at me and said, "Wew (well), dat went wew. Don't you fink (think)?" That kid is a riot. He's such a little man. Gus just had a virus. The doctor asked if him if he had a sore throat when he swallowed, he said, "No, it's just pokey," which means he has a sore throat. Judson had a double ear infection. He's never had one before or been on medicine outside of the acid reflux medicine from when he was a baby. The medicine cleared up his nose right away. Gus' fever was gone Tuesday morning. So we've been functioning as a healthy family since Wednesday.
On Friday it was 75 and today it's supposed to be 70. The older two are out riding bikes now. Hopefully, spring will hurry and stay, and the germs will go. I'd rather deal with allergies in the spring than the colds and the flus and the coughs.
