Dave's Birthday

When we were in Chicago over Christmas break we played the Kinect at the Bernardo's house. The Kinect is amazing. It connects to the XBox and the player's body is the controller. Gus especially loved it. The kid wants to play video games so badly, but the Wii is too hard, and regular video games make him very frustrated. We decided we would get the Kinect for Dave and Gus' birthday.
Dave's birthday was on a Monday, but at our house, birthday celebrations usually last the entire weekend. For Friday family fun fest we went to Chick-Fil-A (which included a chocolate peppermint shake) and Best Buy. The Kinect games were on sale that week at Best Buy, buy two, get one free. We took advantage of that and got Kinect Sports, Dance Central, and Kinectimals. We held Kinectimals back, though, for a birthday present for Gus. We finished off Friday family fun fest with the Bone-Knapper. It came with How to Train a Dragon. It was a cute 20 minute show. After we put the kids to bed we (mainly Dave) worked on moving the XBox upstairs to the bonus room. We finally got it all hooked up and we played Dance Central. It was so much fun! It's definitely a bigger kids game, though. The language and dance moves are a bit racy. Our kids don't know we have it.
We stayed at home on Saturday. Lucy came down with her fever Saturday night. The Kinect is fantastic! We played it a lot on Saturday and Sunday.
Lucy woke up at 2am on Dave's birthday coughing. She came down and came to my side of the bed to get help. She said, "Happy Birthday, Daddy!" in between coughs. She felt so bad for waking him up, it was so incredibly sweet!
Dave opened cards and presents in the morning before he went to work. My mom came over to watch the kids on Monday so I could run to the store to get the ingredients for carrot cake. We were planning on going out to eat, but because Lucy was sick, we got take-out instead. We had carrot cake for dessert. It was a good day.
