Bats and Chalk

Last week was extremely busy. Lucy had her parent tea at school on Tuesday. She told me she was singing Jesus Loves Me so we'd been practicing in the car. When she got up on stage she started singing Jesus Loves Me all by herself. The class wasn't singing it, but by golly, Lucy was.

We went to Target on Wednesday afternoon and I got the kids bats and chalk. Gus is always after the big kids' bats. Our neighbors leave bats and balls out on the cul-de-sac next to the basketball hoop and ramps. Gus was thrilled and kept saying "Bat, baw." Lucy loved the chalk. Gus has been into coloring lately, too. He'll color with the chalk for a little bit, but then he gathers it all up in the bucket and runs away. It's quite a production to play outside! We pull out the slide, the car, the lawnmower, the bats, the balls, and the chalk all to the front yard (the backyard still isn't done). Our kids are like magnets for all the neighbors. Everyone comes out to play with our kids, it's so sweet. Even our next door neighbors who have two teenage boys come out after dinner every night to see Lucy and Gus.

Dave had a crazy week at work last week. He'll be done with school tomorrow night. Thank goodness! I can't remember him ever working this hard. He does really well with all the pressure. I couldn't handle it. Dave has a week and a half off before summer school starts. Work seems to be calming down a bit, too.
