Gus has a serious love for hats. At Hannah's house he's always after the fire hat. He puts baskets and purses on his head at home for makeshift hats. He loves Lucy's chef hat. On Friday night we went out to eat and wandered into a kids clothing store to see if they had any good deals (it's tax-free weekend in NC). We saw Gus-size baseball caps. We really liked a navy one with a blue bear claw. He threw it down multiple times. Gus LOVED the orange one. He didn't want to take it off his head. We compromised on a navy hat with an orange basketball. Gus is thrilled with his new accessory. He takes it off, puts it back on, takes it off again. He prefers to wear his hat backward, with the bill a little off-center in the back.

On Saturday night mom and Jim came for dinner. Gus was thrilled because he was able to play with Jim's hat and his hat. He kept taking the hats and hanging them on the newel post, where Jim always hangs his hat when he comes.

We played outside on Saturday night and Lucy didn't want Gus to push the car while she was in it. So, he went around, opened the door, and got in. Lucy didn't quite know what to do with his boldness (I think the hat gave him the nerve to do it), so she let him get in and drive. After the bath, I put the kids on our bed to watch a show. Gus sat there, completely still, enthralled with Diego. When he wears the hat, he takes on a new persona that exhausts him. I like the hat!
